Xanadu follows the journey of Greek goddess, Kira, as she descends from Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California, in 1980. She’s on a quest to help the struggling artist, Sonny, succeed in the creation of the “greatest piece of artistry of all time”- the first ROLLER DISCO!
Styles
1- Monologue- objectives, obstacles and tactics
All character work should be finished along with research. Beats, chunks, coding. Rehearsal for notes. Students will answer all 9 of Uta Hagen’s questions as they continue to build their monologue character. Rehearsal of monologues and world building.
2- Uta Hagen exercises
We will review all the Uta Hagen exercises for adding her technique to your monologue
3- Meisner/Adler review
Students will review the Meisner/Adler techniques to prepare applying to their monologue character
RTC is hosting the FUSD Theatre Festival again this year on February 15. We are scheduled for a full day: 9 AM- 4 PM. All students enrolled in a Theatre class is expected to attend. You will be missing classes all day, ensure you keep up with the work for the day.
According to the syllabus your attendance was agreed upon at the beginning of the year:
FUSD Theatre Festival Requirement
All RSA Theatre students are expected to participate in the FUSD Theatre Festival. This is the only required in class event.

All actors must have a scene or monologue prepared for competition.
Students have 2 options for the day: work crew with me or attend the festival and compete their monologue
