2- Storytelling

Students will learn how to break down a story into its parts. Take notes in lecture

3- Tableau

Students will choose a fairy tale to read as a cast. Students must break down the fairy tale into its 3 main parts and determine what will happen in each scene. Students will create a 3 frozen set of scenes to tell the complete story.

Students will complete a plot diagram for their story. Plot diagram due at the end of the unit.

4- Pantomime/Tableau articles homeworkdue Oct 29 by 11:59 PM

Students will read 3 articles and respond to 2 of them. Due at the end of the Pantomime unit

Article 1: “No Place Like Home” by Kathleen Smith Belcher

Directing Students will read 3 articles and write a response to 2 of their choice. Assignment is due at the end of the Pantomime unit. Writing standards required. Check your syllabus packet for writing expectations

Article 1: “Less is More” by Laura Wayth

Response question: Citing the article as evidence, discuss which part of directing is the most important for a successful show.

Article 2: “Learning the Directing Ropes” by Joe Deer

Response question: The article identifies 5 phases of producing shows, choose which one phase you believe is the most important for a director to be involved.

Article 3: “Directing a Diva” by Kellie Gormly

Response question: Citing the article as evidence, discuss the best way to keep egos in a cast down and encourage a sense of ensemble.
